All melodies and arrangement for solo cello, 10 brass and 20 choir were written, superimposed on Pink Floyd's existing backing tracks of the main title piece covering all of Side 1, by Ron Geesin during the (very hot) month of May 1970. He directed the ensemble for the first few days at Abbey Road Studios, London, in June 1970 and then handed over to choirmaster John Alldis.
